Dear Mrs. Parrish,
What is the NetApp policy and strategy with regards to IPv6:
In what way is NetApp supporting companies in helping to implement IPv6?
In what way does NetApp inform existing and new customers on which IPv6 related RFC’s are supported in which OS versions?
What is the Netapp policy with regards to the IPv6 certification of the IPv6 Ready Logo Program (www.ipv6ready.org)?
According to IPv6 test site http://www.ip6.nl http://www.netapp.com is only partially IPv6 enabled, by when will http://www.netapp.com be accessible from IPv6-only networks?
The past years, the top of mind topics for CIO’s were Virtualization and CLoud The most debated topics in 2013 are Big Data And Software Defined.
1. Sales through channelpartners represents 82% of the total revenue of NetApp.
We see that you are strongly partnering with Cisco on the Flexpod and Expresspod Solutions Can you elaborate à bit more about the value of this converged solutions for the channel organizations?
When the solutions are already designed by the vendors, i expect à fast go to Market strategy for chanelpartners and also trust and backup from the vendors, what can accelerate business?
2. We see an enormous explosion of data. Where the data till now was mainly people to people and human created. A report by your close friends of Cisco shows that only 1% of everything is connected to the internet at the moment (mainly people). what does it mean for storage companies when the other 99% of things gets connected “internet of everything” where sensors and machines talk to each other and generate enormous amounts of data?
3. The storage market is moving a lot in different directions. We see startups popping up with specialized flash based solutions. Recently on the 19th of february NetApp announced flash based solutions, EF540 and FlashRay. What’s your vision on how the storage market will evolve in the near future?
4. Dave Hitz (founder of NetApp) wrote a book with the impressive title ‘How to castrate a bull’
He tells about the early days of Netapp and how he went to computer shops to test his latest software code on new hardware. Dave writes about risk, growth and success in Business.
After your experience at HP, Nokia, Veritas, Symantec and NetApp what lessons can you share with us?
Dear mrs. Parrish,
1. Netapp has products that are compatible with VMware and Microsoft private Cloud. And you have open storage and data processing solutions based on Hadoop. Will Netapp also support the open source Cloud management software stacks, for example openstack?
2. Only a small percentage of european companies have currently made a transition and deployed most of their IT in the Cloud. Cloud adoption will continue to grow of course, but how far will that take us? Do you foresee a future where every company will outsource all of their IT (both storage and compute) with cloud providers, or will there still be employement opportunities for local IT staff maintaining in house infrastructure?
With the NetApp FAS2200 and the introduction of ExpressPod, NetApp is moving into the small business market. Big Data is a hot topic at this moment. It’s a great opportunity for both enterprise and small business organizations. Enterprise organizations have resources to make use of this Big Data opportunity. (e.g. with skilled, dedicated developers / software architects to analyze this big sets of unstructured data.) However, small businesses lack these resources. How will NetApp support small businesses to get the most out of this Big Data opportunity?
As a result of rapid cloud adoption, and supported by the strong ecosystem around the AMS-IX and many large international datacenter players, The Netherlands hosting and provider sector is growing rapidly. Consequently most large technology players in the Netherlands have initiated marketing programs specifically directed at this market. Netapp however seems to approach this segment in the Netherlands through their existing channel partners, who traditionally had their focus on the enterprise segment.
My question therefore: does Netapp have plans to change its channel strategy to better address the specific needs of the cloud and hosting service provider marketplace?
Dear Ms Julie Parrish,
Recently Bloomberg listed NetApp as one of a few potential acquisitions IBM is considering. Any comments on these speculations, and wouldn’t this kill your Flexpod strategy with Cisco?

Dear Julie,
Seeing the adoption of the SMB, will NetApp attempt to adopt SOHO also?
Competitors in the enterprise market grow with Fibre Channel now to 16G. Will NetApp join this road, or will you choose your own path, jumping up to even more impressive bandwidths, especially having the flash based storage array now available?
The latest entry in your videoblog, you state 80% revenue comes from channel partners. If all sales is done through channelpartners, where does the other 20% come from?
What options do you envision for NetApp in the next 3-5 years?
Thank you for your time.
Dear Mrs Parrish,
How does Netapp think about securing storage that is put in the cloud?
How do you think about the integrity of this data? Are there encryption solutions you can advise?
How to shield data from storage administrators, to guarantee data confidentiality?
• With 12.000 employees and revenues of US$ 6.2 billion, NetApp are a large player but in the league of the top 10 players like IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, SAP, Oracle and EMC. Will NetApp be acquired any time soon? Which company is the desired acquisition candidate?
